Becoming a Member
We welcome new members wishing to join the club, whether beginners or more experienced archers, subject to them meeting our eligibility criteria and agreeing to adhere to the rules of the club at all times.
Eligibility to join
New members must have successfully completed an Archery GB approved beginners course. If the beginners course was completed at a different club, or if the archer has not shot for a prolonged period then one of the club coaches will carry out a short assessment to ensure the potential member is safe to shoot.
Membership fees
Membership of the club requires the payment of annual club membership fees, described below.
All members must also be a member of Archery GB and affiliated to Hampshire Archery Association (HAA) and Southern Counties Archery Association (SCAS). Amongst other benefits this provides you with the liability insurance required to shoot, as well as providing the infrastructure and facilities needed to run the sport.
Information about Archery GB membership and fees can be found on their website https://archerygb.org/get-involved/become-a-member.
Payment of affiliation fees to HAA and SCAS is annually in September, and is paid via the club. Information on affiliation fees can be found on their website https://haa.org.uk/information/fees
Membership year
Our membership year runs from 1st April to 31st Mar the following year. If you join the club part way through the membership year then your membership fee that year will be calculated pro-rata based on the number of full months left in the membership year.
For example if you joined in mid August then there will be seven full months left before the start of the next membership year.. Your membership fee would be [Annual Fee x 7 / 12]
Note that pro-rata fee reductions only apply to club membership fees. Archery GB are moving away from a fixed membership year to annual renewals where you will pay a twelve month subscription when you join and your renewal date will be 12 month later. HAA and SCAS affiliation fees run from 1 October to 30 September and there is no pro rata reduction for joining mid-year.
